MASS Design Group, TEN x TEN, DLR Group and artist collaborators Chisato Minamimura, Sarah Pickthall, Wendy Jacob, and Sissel Tolaas, reimagine the campus of Gallaudet University through a heightened sensory understanding of space and through what MASS refers to as Deaf Craft: the artistic and cultural production unique to Deaf Culture. MASS’s proposal for a new Center for Deaf Craft at Florida Avenue and 6th Street in D.C.’s Union Market neighborhood offers a new way to experience and learn from the historical Frederick Law Olmsted campus and the Deaf community that for over 150 years, has made Northeast D.C. their home.
